HINTS ABOUT EMBROIDERY & MONOGRAMMING MACHINES
There are 3 basic types of embroidery machines referred to as
Chainstitch, Zig-Zag, and automated multiple needle machines. All
Chainstitch machines are used for fine detail work like creative
embroidering on dresses or sewing sutach (very fine welt) on
fabric. These machines all have a small hoop and give the
operator fine control by steering the fabric with a handle under
the machine. The Zig-Zag machine sews an extremely strong stitch
and is typically used for sewing applique on fabric or doing art
work or lettering on fabric. This is accomplished by putting the
fabric in a hoop and either the operator moves the fabric by hand
or it is moved mechanically. A newer computerized multiple needle
type of embroidery equipment is fully automated by utilizing
computer graphics.
